Dr. Georgios Gitas

Georgios Gitas was born and raised in Thessaloniki. Upon completion of his school studies, he entered university by reaching a mark of 19.4 / 20 in his nationwide exams. He studied at the School of Medicine of the Aristotle University from 2004 to 2010, with a degree grade of 7.36 / 10. After the end of his military service and a short stay as a scientific associate at the First Clinic of Obstetrics-Gynecology of the Papageorgiou University Hospital, he moved to Germany where he lived for 11 years, working and receiving the best scientific training.

George Gitas specialized in leading hospitals in Germany, which provided him with an excellent, deep knowledge and the best training in a range of fields, namely Obstetrics, Perinatal, Gynecology, Oncology, including Breast Care. He studied from 2012 to 2017 to receive the title of a Specialist Obstetrician-Gynecologist and was later declared a Doctor of Medicine by the University of Saarland in Germany. He then specialized in Gynecological Oncology, Breast Surgery, Urogynecology, Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery and successfully participated in examinations based on German and international criteria.

He has directed and developed the Endoscopy Center, the Endometriosis Center as well as the Urogynecology Center of the University of Lübeck, one of the most historic Universities in the field of Gynecology. He has also directed the Gynecologic Oncological Center at Berlin’s University Hospital Charité Campus Mitte, the most famous university in Europe, with an excellent reputation in the scientific community. At the age of 36, Dr. Georgios Gitas is perhaps the youngest doctor in Europe to achieve this level of recognition. In 2022, Charité University Hospital was awarded as being the best hospital in Europe and the fifth best worldwide.

Georgios Gitas teaches courses in Endoscopy and Robotic Surgery at the 'School of Gynecological Endoscopy' of the University of Kiel, the center that gave birth to laparoscopic surgery, with the aim of passing his knowledge on to his colleagues.

At the present, he is the director at the department of Gynecology-Robotic Surgery of European Interbalkan Medical Center.
